“Seth Miller met his students where they were, including our highly intelligent yet difficult to educate son.”

We have worked with Seth Miller for five years. I say “worked with” because beyond Seth being our son’s teacher, he was also an essential part of the whole team that addressed the educational, developmental, social, and therapeutic needs of our complicated kid. He partnered with not only the mental health specialist assigned to the classroom, but also with our family, our son’s therapist, his meds provider, his Occupational Therapist, and his past teachers.

Our son arrived in Seth Miller’s classroom freshman year with a twenty-three page neuropsych evaluation, an autism spectrum and mental health diagnosis, and six years in Pioneer Special Schools in therapeutic classrooms. Seth impressed us from before day one. When we toured high school programs, we chose Seth’s classroom because it was clear that he would do the groundwork ahead to make our son’s transition as smooth as possible. The atmosphere in the classroom was respectful of the neurodiverse students and those students were comfortable and thriving.

Seth Miller met his students where they were, including our highly intelligent yet difficult to educate son. Seth was adaptive, creative in curriculum, excellent at communication, and worked closely with us to accommodate our son’s social/emotional needs during a rough five years that included the death of two close family members. Our son’s chronic suicidal ideation required constant daily evaluation and turning on a dime to manage realistic goals and interventions and Seth rose to that need consistently and with good grace.

Working closely as a team during IEP meetings, conferences, written communication, and daily check-ins when needed, kept our son in school and learning, and Seth was a rock-solid part of that team. In addition, he brought his authentic self to the table, and inspired our son to take his writing seriously, and gave him the individual support and guidance to make that dream feel attainable and respected. We cannot recommend Seth Miller highly enough.
